Pre-season focus: January 12-13

As the 2019 campaign approaches, we take a look at how Wales internationals got on with their clubs in the latest round of pre-season fixtures.

In the clash between local rivals Salford Red Devils and Swinton Lions, there were four internationals in action.

Gil Dudson made his first appearance for new club Salford, while Mike Butt, Gavin Bennion and Rhodri Lloyd all turned out for Swinton. Lloyd was recently named the Lions' captain ahead of the 2019 season and Butt managed to get on the scoresheet in the 52-6 loss at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Mike Butt scored Swinton's only try in the defeat to Salford

Calvin Wellington, who has been capped for Wales below first-team level, has switched back to rugby league and is currently on a one-month trial with the Red Devils, making an appearance in the second-half against Swinton.

Craig Kopczak, who retired from internationals following the 2017 World Cup, started at prop for his new club Wakefield Trinity in their 30-24 victory over Hull FC in a joint testimonial for Danny Kirmond and Danny Washbrook.

Chester Butler, Curtis and Connor Davies and Sion Jones all featured for Halifax in their 32-24 win over Hunslet.

Rhys Evans bagged a try in a 20-8 success over Dewsbury Rams for John Kear's Bradford Bulls.

Cobi Green, who has been capped for Wales U19s and captained the side during matches last summer, was also an interchange for the Bulls.

Ben Morris and Elliott Jenkins both started for Rochdale Hornets in their 18-12 victory over local amateur club Rochdale Mayfield.
