Valley Cougars host Coventry Bears on Saturday in Ystrad Mynach
Rugby League is back in South Wales this Saturday when Welsh Premier League champions Valley Cougars host League 1 side Coventry Bears in a pre season friendly at the CCB Centre of Sporting Excellence
in Ystrad Mynach (kick-off 12.30pm).
Following the game, the sides intend to head back to Treharris RFC to watch the Wales V England Six Nations game where everyone is welcome to join them.
One player determined to put in a good performance for the Bears will South Wales Scorpions' record points scorer Paul Emanuelli, who spent most of his rugby league career at the Cougars. He is expected to be joined by another former South Wales player in Chris Vitalini, both players leaving the club in the middle of last season.
But fellow Welshmen Zak Williams and Liam Rice-Wilson will miss this game due to Commonwealth Championship training with Wales as will new Cougars signing Rhys Gant.
The Cougars will more than likely field a similar squad to that who went the whole of 2017 unbeaten to win the domestic Welsh title.
Admission to the match is £2 for adults and under 16s go free.
